Cyclones looking for a shot of confidence

Fred Hoiberg and his staff have spent time assessing the strengths and weaknesses of tonight’s foe, Colorado.

Certainly, the size and scoring potential of Alec Burks and Cory Higgins present a huge challenge. The Cyclones have been victimized the last two games by Mike Singletary and Steve Pledger, a pair of similarly sized players.

Equally challenging for Hoiberg is the task of helping his club find some confidence. The Cyclones have led or been tied with less than a minute left in five of their eight defeats, but closing out a game has been difficult.

"The big thing we’ve been doing with our team is continuing to communicate," Hoiberg said. "Bringing the guys in and talking with them to keep their confidence up."

Hoiberg said his group needs to find a way to win a game.

"To know that you can close out a game makes it easier (the next time)," he said. "Good teams find a way to close a game out."

Hoiberg likes his club’s effort and their resiliency and he expects them to continue working hard. He noted that teams he played on went through similar struggles and often found different ways to lose games.

"We’re looking to do (get a win) and get a little momentum going," he said.
