Five conference home games and the inclusion of WVU and TCU highlights Cyclone football slate

The Big 12 announced its 2012 football schedule and Iowa State’s slate is, of course, challenging. That will always be the case when you participate in one of the best conferences in the nation.

Six Cyclone opponents won bowl championships in 2011 and a half dozen also won at least 10 games.

ISU’s league schedule has good balance. The Cyclones also have a bye week separating the non-conference and Big 12 portions of the schedule.

The four Texas schools are evenly split between home (Baylor and Texas Tech) and road (Texas and TCU). The same can be said for the Sunflower (KU is on the road and K-State is at home) and Sooner state schools (OSU is on the road and OU is at home).

West Virginia, fresh off an Orange Bowl win in January, will play their first-ever game against the Cyclones in Ames on Nov. 24. That is the final game of the regular season. TCU and Iowa State will meet as conference rivals for the first time on Oct. 6 in Ft. Worth.

This rotation is for the 2012 season only. Additionally, there could be slight modifications for conference schools as TV partners make choices for their telecast schedules.
